our Neighbor Vinny

Audrey and I play eStoreOpoly with our neighbor Vinny.

Neighbor Vinny is what I called him to my mastermind partners... Vinny is in awe of Audrey's new program because he finally understands what it really takes to run the online stores Audrey does.

Vinny thinks it's a trip to stumble upon Audrey's and my videos and social media. It was fun hearing about how he saw the video below...

Mastermind Partners helped me train for today...

Today at 4pm is our weekly 1-Hour MasterMind.

Today, March 23, 2010 my fiancé and I also launch her new course eCommerce Incubator + eStoreOpoly. Click on the links for details.

Today at 4pm, Audrey and I meet 5 others, our mastermind partners, on what's called a bridgeline. Bridgelines are simply a conference call system, where folks call the same telephone-number to do a scheduled meeting.

I am our mastermind "Director" in the sense I read the opening and closing script, and I prompt folks along.

We begin by my welcoming folks and reading the words Andrew Carnegie read to begin his own masterminds...

I RELEASE… I release myself to the mastermind because I am strong when I have others to help me.

I BELIEVE… I believe the combined intelligence of the mastermind creates a wisdom far beyond my own.

I UNDERSTAND… I understand that I will more easily create positive results in my life when I am open to looking at my self, my problems and opportunities from another's point of view.

I DECIDE… I decide to release my desire totally in trust to the mastermind and I am open to accepting new possibilities.

I FORGIVE… I forgive my self for mistakes I have made. I also forgive others who have hurt me in the past so I can move into the future with a clean slate.

I ASK… I ask the mastermind to hear what I really want; my goals, my dreams and my desires, and I hear my mastermind partners supporting me in MY fulfillment.

I ACCEPT… I know, relax, and accept, believing that the working power of the mastermind will respond to my every need. I am grateful knowing this is so.

We do a Round-Of-Gratitude where we each say 1-thing for which we are grateful.

Today, I am grateful for my mastermind partners and the fruit of their perspectives I am enjoying with Audrey right now ;-) Thank you!

Then, each mastermind partner get's 7-minutes to State YES/NO if they did last week's S.M.A.R.T. goal, state a category of a question, ask a question.

AS MASTERMIND DIRECTOR, I seek to foster communication. I am not a Sheriff except in terms of monitoring the time ;-)

Today, YES, category is Optimizing, question is: In what ways might Audrey & I be transparent with our test results that will impress potential JVs?

During this time, I seek their input, it's not for me to tell stories, it's for me to receive their perceptions. Since you are reading, allow me to share with you my mental checklist for this blog...

1. Main Communication: Is the intended message being communicated to our core target?

2. Clarity: What if anything is confusing or unclear?

3. Appeal: Is there anything off-putting to our core-target?

4. Relevancy: Is the message for each creative concept meaningfully to our core-target?

5. Actionable: Is there any action our core-target sees themselves taking, or hears themselves saying to themselves or others, prompted by the ad?

Thanks for allowing me to focus, and return to the flow of our mastermind. Everybody gets their 7-Minutes.

Then I lead us in a round of S.M.A.R.T. goes for next week.

We close by my reminding folks we meet next week at the same time and telephone number, and reading the words Andrew Carnegie read to end his own masterminds...

I now have a covenant in which it is agreed that the MasterMind shall supply me with an abundance of all things necessary to live a success-filled and happy life. I dedicate myself to be of maximum service to God and my fellow human beings, to live in a manner that will set the highest example for others to follow and to remain an open channel of God’s will. I go forth with a spirit of enthusiasm, excitement and expectancy.

That's C.R.E.S.T. how to do a 7-person mastermind in an hour or less.

thank you Ray Edwards

There are some people I've met on this planet who radiate a calmness I feel as spiritual bliss. I felt a similar energy with R. Buckminster Fuller. I felt this energy from Rinpoche Tarthang Tulku and George Schoenman, my English teacher at Fairfax High School.

I get this same energy feeling from Ray Edwards. Some readers will have to pardon me for writing about the energy feelings I get. I know my discussions of energy are disconcerting to some. Forgive me.

Ray Edwards was texting with me when I was blessed with a gift from Jesus. I was driving from Texas to Atlanta, embroiled in some perturbation I wasn't conceptualizing as the best thing to happen for me when I glimpsed a new level of self-acceptance from Jesus' wisdom, "Forgive them for they know not what they do." In that instant, I let go of a lot of thought debris and mental baggage. Because once I was able to truly forgive others who had agnosia about their impact on me, somehow I simultaneously began loving myself more. What happened is that I forgave myself for mistakes I had made, because I knew not what I did back then.

Ray Edwards lovingly showed me how small minded and self-contricted I had been. Not that this was Ray's intention. His lessons work automagically because when it comes to compassion, Ray appears to me as a maieutic teacher, bringing out larger realms of being in those who he touches.

Ray fascilitated me seeing how closed-minded I was being. He read my book and loved me as I was. I later learned of Ray's faith and found myself surprised and judgmental. A gift Ray gave me was holding a bigger space for me. Ray niether made me wrong, nor expected me not to make him wrong. "Wow, how does he do that?" I remember asking myself. The answer I discovered was grounded confidence in terms of knowing what he knows, being okay with others seeing things differently. I discovered my own intolerances, and a psychic crimping that had been contorting my consciousness began to release.

Thank you for leading me towards pronoia Ray.

With love,

Ben

To Bot, or not to Bot?

FTC and Debunking The Article Submission Software Myth

Advertising that looks like advertising is 3rd-rate advertising in my book. Furthermore, when my personal space is broached by commercial messages I haven’t requested, I feel spammed. Despite my efforts to treat others as I would like to be treated, many call me a spammer because I use commercial broadcast techniques in my home-based business.

It seems like there is an anti-spam group up at Stanford University that wants to label everything slightly automated as spam. Headed by B.J. Fogg, this center for the study of Computers As Persuasive Technology, aka Captology, can define double-opt-in emails as spam. I don’t mean to get technical, but he’s making it tough for me to do business.

FTC and others are coming down hard on small marketers. If I give a testimonial I have to also say what my average customer experience is. You want to know my average customer experience of my learning products and software is? Fewer than 50% install or open what they buy. FTC gets some of its positions from Stanford’s Captology papers. Of course these rhetoricians have rarely worked with an auto-responder or the tools of commerce.

Recently, a student of Captology at Stanford posted a blog about how he proposed we get rid of spam, that we make it illegal to use automated software to send email. HELLO? How exactly do you send email without using automated software. Just because I can send an email to over 10,000 people at once doesn’t make me a spammer.

WHEN DID BEING A MARKETER MAKE ME A CRIMINAL?

Automated is the only way we can send virtual mail. Duh. There’s no human relay. What’s the line in the sand he’s attempting to see? It’s twirps like these that scare me because they actually impact public policy.

CONFESSION: My fiancé Audrey Kerwood and I both use semi-automated article submission software.

Let me ask you this… What’s so wrong about leveraging modern technology? Do these same luddites drive around town because using a telephone is cheating?

“Anybody that markets more aggressive than you is an asshole. Anybody who doesn’t market as aggressively as you think they should is an idiot.” ~David Ogilvy

You can buy software to assist you in article submission, but you should be aware that it’s still very labor intensive. It is far from being automatic. However, if you want to build your own audience online, getting the words you write read is what gives you an audience, what they call in publishing, a platform.

Here’s the labor to be aware of when using my fiancé’s article submission software Traffic Incubator. First, you will have to click on one of the places to submit your articles, and enter all the field information, once. Each new place you want to submit an article, the software remembers your information and makes that go faster. When you buy a cloud-based software, article directory site information automatically updates, all managed by the provider.

Yes, even though the software completes the form information using what you have entered, and massages your sentences with synonyms to avoid duplicate content slaps,
you do still need to read through the form before hitting submit. Hitting enter without reading for readability is formula for disaster. You will look like a bot.

Bots that make you look like a bot are stupid bots. Marketers who don’t leveraging the emerging technologies are called laggards.

Think about it, if there were effective pieces of article submission software that would get your articles distributed almost instantly, wouldn’t you feel slow waiting for people to repost your articles?

Not all article and video submission software is alike. Most cost $97 or more a month and specialize in one media like articles or videos. You’ll notice that ones with a one-time fee are not cloud-based, so they are often outdated before you have it installed, if you can figure that out on your server. Cloud-based software is essential because social media changes so quickly. At $37 a month, we love the ability to broadcast our articles, videos and press-releases far more efficiently.

Finally, the power of broadcasting multimedia content is in the hands of the small offices and home offices. What this means is that I can move the needle. Have you ever wondered how somebody creates a Google Bomb, well it is the same technology that gives you your search engine optimization.

Have you ever seen how somebody can own a phrase on Google? Have you ever seen somebody do this in 72-hours for a commercial kerword. I have. SEO automation being sold is usually black hat or weird because they are dealing with spammers.

How you use this technology is up to you. However, if you are doing business online and you aren’t using content submission software then it’s hard for me to say that you are online. If you want to become the obvious expert, the online search lead for your key words, then you gotsta get your words out there. Not using article submission software is like a door-to-door sales person not using motorized transportation. Putting a press-release up on P.R.Web is not enough. If you aren’t using Traffic Incubator, you are working far harder than you need to.

Direct Response Branding...

Recently, something startling happened. My Bennington College fellow alumni Blaine Graboyes actually liked a Direct Response social media advertisement. Most branding gurus, especially big wigs in gaming can't stand long copy direct response ads and yet Kevin Wilke did just that.

Kevin Wilke is worth friending and following on FaceBook.

In almost every field, there are people who are extremely good at getting publicity, and monetizing their exposure. However...most that are good at getting attention AND selling products, OFTEN are not good at teaching, at getting consistently strong results from their students.

Social media loves them, within their circles, and they're regularly on Twit Cast Radio and Internet TV shows and featured in print publications.

They not only get a ton of free publicity but they also know how to really profit from the media
coverage through increased sales, name recognition, speaking engagements with platform selling of irresistible offers and sexy back ends.

To discover how these "publicity superstars" got started, chunking down how you too can get specialized skills that allow you to command professional wages. There are so many "so-called" free-enterprise teachers that preach not to trade hours for dollars. These teachers mean well, and many are very effective with some students. However, that teaching strategy doesn't work with many. Perhaps if you've heard that phrase this next idea might help you.

Discover now at minute 23 of this video, worth watching of Kevin Wilke.

Let's take a step back from our own business, and take a lesson from POKER.

Before we begin the POKER ALLEGORY, can we all agree that HAVING A POSITIVE EXPECTATION is important in business?

In poker... professional rounders chart the cash flow of their play. A professional poker player with a profitable habit of charting hir wins and losses by the hour. This kind of poker player gauges the tempo of play, the dollar amount and has a fair ability to predict how much money they will earn off that table. These poker players are trading dollars for hours. They can predict how much money they can earn per hour effort. Can you do this?

"First, and foremost, Holdem Poker is a game of Big Cards" ~Mike Caro

Poker begins as a war for the antes, a zer0-sum game of competitive strategy with a big sprinkle of luck. Over the long haul, winning is not a matter of luck. Winning is the outcome of optimized winning strategies.

"Aces are larger than life and greater than mountains."

-- Mike Caro

In the comment text below I posted an article I wrote for The Net Effect called How To Bet On Research... The entrepreneurial answer is that you want to own the casino. My fiancé Audrey Kerwood teaches you how here. <= CLICK

Before I begin today's eCommerce blog, who else remembers Matt Damon's character Mike from Rounders? MIKE: Why does this still seem like gambling to you? I mean, why do you think the same five guys make it to the final table of the World Series of Poker EVERY SINGLE YEAR? What, are they the luckiest guys in Las Vegas? It's a skill game.

Mike Caro explains that winning Holdem Poker is a game of Big Cards. The first step to winning strategy is selecting what starting cards are worth playing. This is critical to net winnings. This basic principle appears true in entertainment.

Free entreprise appears to me as Poker Without Cards. Success in free enterprise appears to me as opperating around similar sound principles to poker. Entrepreneurial success is a game of selcting winning Big Opportunities. Simply because you hold and ace doesn't mean that veteran entrepreneurs would go all-in on the same many opportunities.

Mike from Rounders: You can't lose what you don't put in the middle. But you can't win much either.

Discretion is the bigger half of long-term winning strategies. The easiest way to win the most amount of money is to play every single hand. The downside to this "winning" strategy is that you'll lose more than you win. So, poker is a game of getting the most out of your wins, and staying out of as many non-winning situations as you can.

Every poker player gets burnt in a crooked game. Every entrepreneur has bought a course, or a piece of software that didn't do what it said, and the guarantee was worthless. That's just part of the game. Just because some of the players are crooked, doesn't mean its a bad game.

"Avoid people with gold teeth who want to play cards."

-- George Carlin

Your eCommerce "business plan" might have you selling The ACE Product over the holiday season, but without a plan for traffic, it's like an Ace-Six off-suit. Betting hard at it is actually more profitable than betting sheepishly, and if you are only betting on this, you'll experience a lot of roller-coasters. With poker, as in eCommerce, the more hand you play well, the less of a roller coaster you experience. The trick is to follow profitable strategies and not get psyched into the sucker bets.

BUSTING A POKER MYTH... Suited Cards

What's the ephemeral sound of a poker player who just got lucky? As he is raking-in his winning pot you hear him say defensively, "They were suited." This player's stack is likely to be volatile, more often than not ending the night with nothing but felt. Playing cards because they are suited is a losing strategy.

Suited cards have more potential, but remember this is a game of Big Cards. Pocket aces are fantastically better than every other starting hand, and they still only give you a 3:1 advantage against any given player, and you are a slight underdog against a family pot. You gotta bet to make yourself a winning player.

An unpaired Ace will win about half the pots in a heads-up game. You see Poker starts by rewarding Big Cards, and this has a greater impact on your outcome than most people work into their decision process. This means most novice Holdem Poker players will under-value the importance of holding Big Cards. In eCommerce, a high-converting store + floods of traffic is like holding Ace-King, also known as Big Slick.

This is where I've seen folks go bust, suddenly betting their entire marketing budget on PPC this week because it worked last week so well. I pray for them. I'd prefer to see them betting a much smaller percentage of their marketing budget so quickly.

Poker is a game that combines the classic Tortoise & Hare mindsets. You need to be a Tortoise to wait for the right hand to play. Then, you need to be like the Hare that goes all in when you truly have the best of it.

POKER reveals much more about human psychology, than any game I've ever played next to direct response branding.

MIKE: In Confessions of a Winning Poker Player, Jack King said, "Few players recall big pots they have won -- strange as it seems -- but every player can remember with remarkable accuracy the outstanding tough beats of his career.".

Under-valueing Big Cards might thwart the novice, many rapidly growing business owners over will over play their entrepreneurial Ace-King. Most ameteur poker players will play their life like their playing a tournament. On the one had, the verve and focus will produce massive results. On the other hand, the escalating tensions and time constraints warp long-term winning strategies. How do you make the most amount of money on Poker? You own the casino.

I walked away from being a career poker player largely because I didn't love beating people. I walked away from being a theatrical magician because I wasn't fascinated enough by having people look at me. I'm still hoping to make a livelihood from writing fiction. In the mean time, my fiancé and I are working on opening online stores we think of, in some ways, like owning casinos.

Owning a casino means running a business. A casino without traffic of customers is expensive instead of profitable. Having customers without enough drink runners or broken equipment also won't be profitable for long. Sure, you have teams of people to fix problems, but how do you build up to that? Most people successful have worked with a mentor to get them through the building curve. Business ownership is more than the numbers on a page.

"If scientific reasoning were limited to the logical processes of arithmetic, we should not get very far in our understanding of the physical world. One might as well attempt to grasp the game of poker entirely by the use of the mathematics of probability."

-- Vannevar Bush, architect of the Internet

Business ownership, that's what it is to own a casino. Owning your own casino is now easier than it's ever been. Similar to being an entrepreneur to the world, it's easier to get the infrastructure than it's ever been. For most new store owners and casino owners, this doesn't mean you open your doors and you make money. And, just because you have a profitable new ad words campaign, doesn't mean you invest your entire stack in this weeks campaign. In Boise, ID I met a couple brothers that are consistently winning betting over $100k in ad words a day. They make $5k-$12k a day profit. That means that if they have 9 profitable days in a row, one disasterous day would wipe them out if they were repeatedly going all in. They don't go all-in, though. They are doing fantasticly financially.

The key to being a professional poker player is making enough so you don't have to do anything else in life. I learned this performing magic. The trick to being a professional magician for me, was making enough doing magic so I didn't have to make money any other way. It's as simple as that. Many folks approach poker or business like a hobby, as if how much money they make on that particular Saturday is important. This is the hardest lesson Mike said he has teaching mindset: "How much money you made in a session is far less important to me than if you made the most profitable decisions."

Mike Caro explains that most losers take a short-term perspective on their money. Mike Caro teaches to always play best poker. Part of that is selecting which games you want to play. Your likelihood of winning is almost contingent on having enough money to play. Mike teaches poker from a mindset that is strikingly similar to the eCommerce mindset Audrey Kerwood teaches.

Below, in the comments, I'd love to know what you think. Also, I posted an article in the comments called How To Bet On Research... The entrepreneurial answer is that you want to own the casino. My fiancé Audrey Kerwood teaches you how here. <= CLICK

How Socialnomics Debunks The Mousetrap Myth

"Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door"
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson, (May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882)

You've probably seen that somewhere. I hold that this is not wisdom, this is dangerous rubbish. The weirdest part is the conspiracy to blame this line on an ecologist like Emerson.

Ralph Waldo Emerson (May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882) was an American essayist, philosopher, and poet, best remembered for leading the Transcendentalist movement of the mid 19th century. His teachings directly influenced the growing New Thought movement of the mid 1800s.[1] He was seen as a champion of individualism and a prescient critic of the countervailing pressures of society.

"Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door" is a phrase attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson but he didn't write it.

Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door is a phrase attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson in the late ninteenth centrury.[1] [2] The phrase is actually a misquotation of the statement:

If a man has good corn or wood, or boards, or pigs, to sell, or can make better chairs or knives, crucibles or church organs, than anybody else, you will find a broad hard-beaten road to his house, though it be in the woods.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, [2]

In 1889, seven years after Emerson's death, came the invention of the current standard of mousetraps.[2] That same year Emerson was quoted as saying:

If a man can write a better book, preach a better sermon, or make a better mousetrap than his neighbor..."[2]

The phrase has turned into a metaphor about the power of innovation,[2] and is frequently taken literally, with more than 4,400 patents issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for new mousetraps, with thousands more unsuccessful applicants, making them the "most frequently invented device in U.S. history".[1]

To prosper through Socialnomics, you can't simply have a better mousetrap. It's a myth that the world will beat a path to your door.

A. The Formula for Failure, i.e.:

"Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door.":
  1. Find, create, or acquire a product or service.
  2. Find someone to sell it to.
What's wrong with the above picture? Simple - it only focuses on product creation and sales, while completely ignoring marketing. Shawn strongly advises budding entrepreneurs to investigate and research their target market, and create a marketing plan BEFORE considering what products they will create. Hence,

B. The Formula for Success:
  1. Find a hot, HUNGRY target market first.
  2. Find out what they already want and are already buying.
  3. Sell them more of the SAME.
It's a tried and true formula that established marketers use to stay on top.

From a Socialnomics perspective, you want a guild of Social Media robots wofting scent of tasty food where your hungry target audience is frothing. That my friends is where semi-automated article propagation becomes profitable when used in ethical ways.

NLP is acting as if you have...

the best way to act as if something will work is to model, process-map a winning strategy. There's another school of thought that says choosing to feel something allows you to experience the energies you have stored in your body, and that there's value in trying on pleasurable states.

NLP allows you to entrain the energies and perspectives of a winning subject, that's part of the process-mapping of the strategy. What we study becomes a part of us. Simply by studying a behavior we internalize their characteristics, like a matrix gobbling machine ingesting code in the form of vibrations, we entrain each other's rhythms.

What I found is that much of NLP I was doing naturally, and that the formal study has helped me grow. I recommend newcomers to NLP read this book: The Rainbow Machine: Tales From A NeuroLinguist's Journal.

Audrey Kerwood's consulting is tight...

her business emails are proverbs.

"A proverb is much matter distilled into few words." ~R. Buckminster Fuller

EXAMPLE Follows from email i was cc'd on:

Hi Micah,

There is one school of thought that believes "in-context" linking produces better results. Not everyone agrees on this. I like to have some of everything going on when I'm building links and rankings. So my advice would be to split your links between being in the body content and following the content with caption. Variation looks more natural to the spiders anyway.

Please let me know if you need more clarification about it.

Thanks!

Sydney Barrows spoke last night => GKIC chapter meeting

The genius I saw in Sydney Barrows is her uncommon sense of how rich people like to be emotionally and sensorly fondled through a sales event.

Increasing the pleasure of your buying experience will make you more money. Sydney discussed how getting your story down is your first step. BUT WHAT STORY? Sydney explains that your story is actually the experiences you give your prospects and customers.

Most importantly, what business does your prospect want you to be in.

What I most admired in Sydney Barrows is her apparently unconscious competence at targeting. She teaches her clients how to go after where the money never wasn't, never won't be. She targets the rich. Max Fischer would be proud to work with The Mayflower Madam. However, being in the audience wasn't always the premium experience she gets for her clients.

In short, Sydney Barrows cures marketingitis. She helps her clients overcome the inner shitweasel and invest in what will make them more money. This isn't big dumb advertising but prudent investments in their customer's experience. Sydney teaches Direct Response Branding from the perspective of the user's experience. SOLID TEACHING GOLD!

Please note, this was only the 2nd time she has given this presentation, a point she reitterated to us eight-times when I got board of keeping track in my mind. For long moments I felt trapped in a really bad local magic meet-up where an ameteur magicians are dropping props because her mastery of her PC is almost as poor as her inability to take responsibility for the props she brought to her stage. It was a painful show to experience and that added to the art for me.

What I noticed was that I had a choice... a choice I didn't have until recently. I had the ability to see and feel her pains, or the choice to see her genius and learn from the gifted teacher I had before me. Her genius shines through quite regularly. She's a natural sales-force who deserves to be heard because of the genius she sheds on her lucky audiences. We all have bad shows.

What I'm grateful for is being able to watch a real thoroughbred stumble. Because when she gets this talk good and tight, it is going to crush an entire stadium.

What Sydney explains is how to get her customers into the experience of their prospects and customers. This is a knack she has that is worth every penny of her $5k consulting fee. If she worked for consumer research companies, they'd charge $5ok for her insights, they'd just get somebody to transcribe the ideas and edit them into bullet points that sell their value.

Before we left, a reader of Think Two Products Ahead asked me to sign his book. That was fun. But the best part was the ride home with Audrey. I love her. I love processesing with her because it feels good and grounding. We aren't spending the entire ride making fun of nor praising the experience. We're just being. Much of the time it's funny, sometimes it's not. What I've found is that the more we process together, the more fun magic seems to fly by our sights.

And, sometimes our sites are challenged out in public. Audrey is so much naturally graceful than me. She loves ALL questions where I have a gruff tendency to jump down people's throats some times. Less often than before, because, as i previous reported the idiot problem has been quelled.

Anger Management AND where the wild things are...

i was Max.

Until I could read for myself, Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak was my favorite story in the entire world. However, most dolts couldn't read it to me right. I appeared to some babysitters as an angry child. The one's I got along with were the sitters who saw me as a wild thing, and had fun with me, and we got along famously.

I've spent most of my life angry. I've learned to forgive myself, I didn't know I was angry. Somewhere between striving to forgive others, I gave up the striving and eased into Jesus' words, "Forgive them for they know not what they do." A blessing of calmness came in an instant, because the transformation included self-acceptance. I stopped holding myself in contempt for not being however I was expecting myself to be.

Why I was angry is an unanswerable question, fraught with recursive paths of doubt and unsettling comparisons. I spent years working on my self in therapy of different kinds. I've only recently learned to laugh at how much money I spent working on my self and seeing it all as an investment. Much of the self-work was greatly beneficial, and much of it now appears to me as having been counterproductive and painful.

When I work with NLP clients with anger issues, the #1 question I hear is: "Why am I so angry?" Here's the deal, listing all the reasons why you are angry appears to me as a very poor strategy to making your anger go away. What I found was that learning to better express myself eased much tension physically, spiritually and psychically.

Three specific things helped me... 1) Richard Bandler's NLP workshop 2) Working with Barbara DeAngelis 3) Reading Anger and the Indigo Child by Dianne Lancaster.

To my eyes, Jesus gave us the key to forgiving anger. The key is to forgive them for they know not what they do. We find the key in ourselves because anybody who can remember a time when they were blinded by their emotions can feel.

Feelings, their not just for people just like us anymore.

What i love about WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE is that Max is forgiven, accepted and most importantly, he accepts himself.

You are perfect just as you are, and being perfect aint always comfortable, and that's okay. It's just more fun to have fun than to be angry these days. Looking at all the ways you have fun is a great way to evaporate anger.

So now, let me ask you a serious question... When was the last time you had amazing FUN and why did you have so much fun? CAREFUL thinking about this stuff may lead to happiness and pronoia ;-)

if i ran The Oscars...

Top 10 Things I'd do if i ran The Oscars

1) Only category professionals would vote for that category.

e.g., editors would vote on best editing, costume folks would vote on costuming, male actors would voter for best actor awards, etc.

2) anybody disparaging consumer research would prompt immediate music and cut to commercial

3) the rumor would not have spread that they weren't allowed to say "jesus" and if the rumor had said i would have inspired at least one recipient to thank jesus

4) it would have been even shorter or a two day event, soiré

5) the link on the page would have said ABC.com to make my spnsor happier

6) there would never had been a script that had Kathryn Bigelow first introduced as an ex-wife unless i knew she was going to win

=> The first rule of propriety is to avoid the appearance of impropriety.
Dramatically, that energy FELT GREAT! She was wronged and vindicated in a singe evening. GREAT F*ckin' DRAMA! But dangerously unclassy unless you acted as if you knew she'd win. PLEASE NOTE: If I ran The Oscars I'd Know. If THEY did know, brilliant.

7) there would have been cooler commercials... i can explain how to get those

8) i would have attended

9) Ben wouldn't have done the fishing pole gag

10) Where The Wild Things Are would have won best picture

Do THE GREAT PIRATES rule the world?

I caught The Bucky Virus when I was twelve-years-old after R. Buckminster Fuller explained to me... The Great Pirtaes.

The great pirates, the traders and sea dwellers who needed men organized on land to expedite their trading created monarchies.

Can we all agree that the ones make and enforce the rules are the people who "rule" the world? Then, it wasn't just any pirates of yesteryear who set-up the forerunners of todays "civilized" society.

Pirates were inherently outlaws. Pirates lived outside the system. The only laws that could, and did, rule them were natural laws. Pirates battled with one another to see who was going to control the vast sea routes and, eventually, the world. Their battles took place out of sight of land dwellers and the keepers of written history. The losers generally went to the bottom of the sea. Those who stayed on top of the waters, and prospered, did so because of their comprehensive abilities. They were the antithesis of specialists.

Pirates were applied scientists. The wider and more long-distanced their anticipatory strategy, the more successful they usually were. Experience proved that multiple ships could outmaneuver one ship. So pirates created navies... and this was the beginning of The Great Pirates!

Bucky pointed out that historians maintain that countries created navies—only countries had the infrastructure to build and sustain navies. But, that’s what our history tells us. But, history is simply a story agreed upon.

Bucky maintained that Great Pirates created countries.

Western civilization didn’t just spring up simultaneously along different coasts. Trade prompted the development of countries. People were trading via shipping routes. Businessmen. Pirates. Great Pirates created foci of power.

To consistently sustain a navy, Great Pirates had to control mines, forests, and lands to build the ships and establish the industries essential to building, supplying, and maintaining their navy. These Great Pirates went to the various lands where they either acquired or sold goods, and picked the strongest man there to be the pirate’s local headman. The chosen man became the Great Pirate's general manager of the local realm.

If the chosen man in a given land had not already done so, this pirate told him to proclaim himself king. But this king was a stooge to commerce. His sole job was to maintain order on behalf of the pirates. Order was most easily maintained by having the local king proclaim that he was the headman of all men, the god-ordained ruler on earth. The locals weren’t traveling, so they saw no disparity. The pirates gave their stooge-kings secret lines of supplies that provided everything they needed to enforce their sovereign claim. The more massively bejeweled the king's gold crown, and the more visible his court and castle, the less visible was his pirate master.

Masters had to sleep occasionally, and therefore found it necessary to surround themselves with super-loyal, muscular, but dumb-as-shit, illiterates, who couldn’t see, nor savvy, their masters' strategies. There was great safety in the stupidity of these henchmen.

The Great Pirates realized that the only people who could possibly contrive to displace them were the truly bright people.

Secrecy was any pirate’s strongest defense. If the other powerful pirates didn’t know where you were going, when you’d gone, or when you were coming back, they wouldn’t know how to waylay you. If anyone knew when you were coming home, small-timers could come out in small boats and waylay you in the dark and take you over, just before you got home tiredly after a two-year treasure-harvesting voyage. Hijacking and second-rate piracy became a popular activity around the world's shores and harbors. So, secrecy became the essence of the lives of the successful pirates. That’s why so little is known of these pirates.

Great Pirates said to all their kings, statesmen who were functionally only lieutenants, "Any time bright young people show up, I'd like to know about it, because we need bright men." So, each time the pirate came into port, the local king would mention that he had some bright, young men whose capabilities and thinking shone out in the community. The great pirates would say to the king, "All right, you summon them and deal with them as follows: As each young man is brought forward you say to him, 'Young man, you are very bright. I'm going to assign you to a great history tutor, and, in due course, if you study well and learn enough, I'm going to make you my Royal Historian, but you've got to pass many examinations given to you by me and your teacher.'"

And when the next bright boy was brought before him, the king was to say, "I'm going to make you my Royal Treasurer," and so forth. Then the pirate said to the king, "You will finally say to all of them: 'But each of you must mind your own business or off go your heads. I'm the only one who minds everybody's business.'"

And this is the way schools began, as royal tutorial schools. And, it’s the way specialization began. It is our current form of education. Academic education equals specialization. Exclusively, the Great Pirates retain comprehensive knowledge.

Exclusively the Great Pirates, known today as international businessmen, enjoy knowledge of the world through its resources.

Bucky emphasized that this is not a metaphor or some kind of syllogism and that he was not being facetious. Bucky held the pirate story as a more accurate history than found in traditional textbooks.

This was the beginning of schools and colleges, and the beginning of intellectual specialization. The development of the bright ones into specialists gave the king very great brain power, and made him and his kingdom the most powerful in the land and, therefore, secretly and greatly advantaged his patron pirate in world competition with the other Great Pirates.

The power rested not with the power figureheads, the kings, but with the men behind the kings, the great pirates. Just as today, a corporate president may be the king, but the power is in the hands of the board of directors—the ones never charged with corporate crimes, these are the modern day Great Pirates.

Bucky saw our current world order as derived from deception and maintained through deception. Bucky’s key criticism of this deception is a perpetuated fallacy of scarcity. Scarcity is required to maintain the tension required for competition. It is intrinsic to the divide and conquer master strategy. However, most people are blind to the connection between competition and the divide and conquer strategy.

A Fuller Explanation
In 1980, R. Buckminster Fuller spent two days explaining his perception of reality to me and two other kids for Richard Brenneman’s book, Fuller’s Earth: A Day With Bucky And The Kids. FULLER'S EARTH was re-released last year and is now again available on Amazon or from your favorite independent bookseller.

In Bucky's final book, COSMOGRAPHY, Bucky explained what this interview was like for him. Bucky found us deeply programmed and conditioned by society. He wanted to pursue the origins of specialization into deep history, hoping thereby to correct or eliminate our “normal” concepts. Bucky stated that misconceptions were intentionally perpetuated as a form of control over the masses. That it is naïve to think that certain misconceptions have not been intentionally held in place by local governments. This think piece, The Great Pirates, is an attempt to pass along a little of what he gave me.

Thank you for consuming this Think Piece. Now, think peace.

4-Patterns of Thought: Attacca, Nacirema, Magick & AKS

"Just because we can’t articulate an idea doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist."
~Howard W. Campbell, Poker Without Cards

The articulation of ideas often appears to me as irresponsible from the perspective of a non-royal historian, those of us seeking to expand knowledge without the patronage of a Hegemony.

My professional career after being a theatrical magic, began in consumer research, where we regularly constructed segmentation solutions for magickal corporatons, those following their fiduciary responsibility and seeking to make more money. In my construct below, corporations are Magick by their lack of nature.

Segmentation solutions are inexact, although we seek to provide Mutually Exclusive, Completely Exhaustive segments, our divisions are static and life is dynamic. And, they can be useful in progressing an agenda.

My hobby is philosophy. In philosophy we approach segmentation analyses in ontology. Ontology is the study of being and how patterns of thought affect patterns of action, grows when common-realms-of-knowledge expand on their interconnectedness, where a large enough population uses similar enough words for their ideas to commingle, evolving together into a meme pool, which appears to me as metaphysical gravity, generating what Kurt Vonnegut termed the constellation of those attracted to pool of ideas as it's Karass.

To this end of expanding a common realm of knowledge through useful vocabulary, I identified two patterns of thoughting presented in Poker Without Cards which I label as Nacirema and Attacca.

I have recently expanded and completed my first ontological segmentation solution. My 4-segment solution includes: Nacirema, Attacca, Magick & AKS.

This construct is based on the work of Howard W. Campbell who explored the internal validity of mathematics, and how rules are developed when discrepancies are noticed between math and nature.Campbell wrote about how Gödel said that validity comes from outside of a system: like how in grade school they don’t let students use a form of the word they are defining in their definition, Gödel says the opposite can also be the case, something can be true and not contained within a system.

For your considerations...

Attacca - Attacca is the backbone of science, what many people generalize as left-brain thinking. I define Attaccan thoughting as coporting to a set of rules, with exacting internal consistencies.

Nacirema - Nacirema emerges in the absence of Attacca, what many people generalize as right-brain thinking. I define Nacirema thought as associative, ideating away from existing streams of thought.

Magick - Magick is our mind's mother tongue, where meaning is derived from the results we produce. I Magick thought as comporting to an agenda.

AKS - AKS is the notorious "other" category, the catch-all for thoughting systems that are either outside of this rubric, or blend there of.

It is unlikely that my model will be discussed in The Academy, unless I foist it on them. From a Media Studies perspective, I produce outsider philosophy, rarely considered worthy for their serious discourse. I don't write for them, and many of their currently popular ideas appear to me as irresponsible.

Indulge me in a disclaimer, "For although in a certain sense and for light-minded persons, non-existent things can be more easily and irresponsibly represented in words than existing things, for the serious and conscientious historian it is just the reverse. Nothing is harder, yet nothing is more necessary, than to speak of certain things whose existence is neither demonstrable nor probable. The very fact that serious and conscientious men treat them as existing things, brings them a step closer to existence and to the possibility of being born." ~Herman Hesse, The Glass Bead Game
